The Famous Second Story Arcade Game Drop

We're so confident the OC-ATX chassis are the most rugged ArcadePC chassis available, we threw one, mounted inside a typical arcade game, off the top of a two story building (25 feet) and proved it.

'Look out below!'

The game shatters on impact.  Stunned silence from the audience.  Not looking good for our hero.

Game exploding on impact

The resulting pile of rubble.  The OC-ATX chassis is in the box on the left.  Still plugged-in and operating with no errors.

The Story In Words

An old stand-up coin operated video game was purchased and retrofitted with the Arcade Technologies OC-ATX ArcadePC chassis.  A complete Pentium ATX motherboard system with drives and plug-in cards was installed in the chassis and configured with Windows 98 with Industrial Imbedded Enhancements.  The cabinet was hauled to the roof of a 2-story building and poised on the edge.  The game was plugged into a long extension cord and turned-on.

After the computer was running, it was pushed into the seemingly bottomless void.  Tumbling end-over-end, the cabinet hit on the top rear corner.  The landing was particularly spectacular with the cabinet literally exploding and launching the OC-ATX chassis tumbling across the parking lot.  The monitor imploded, showering glass everywhere.

When the dust settled, parts were scattered over a 25 foot path.  We plugged in a new monitor (the old one was a pile of rubble) and the OC-ATX with the motherboard inside was still operating and running Windows 98® .  We ran Checkdisk and found no errors on the hard drive.
