DESCRIPTION
The ATXN-5520 is a long-life EATX motherboard supporting Intel Quad and Six-Core Xeon Series 5500 processors in the Nehalem-EP family. Embedded core speeds of 2.0GHz to 2.4GHz (higher when released) are supported. Combining the Intel 5520 Input Output Hub (IOH) with the Intel ICH10R delivers chipset performance and functionality well suited for challenging embedded computing applications. Each processor supports six dual channel DDR3-1333 system memory connections for up to 96GB of memory (144GB theoretical max). The ATXN-5520 was designed specifically for high performance embedded applications where high memory bandwidth and assured long term availability is required.
Powered by the Intel 5520 chipset and supporting the latest processors based on the Intel Nehalem-EP core, the ATXN-5520 utilizes next-generation dual-processor chipset technology, enabling low-power consumption with improved platform reliability, accessibility, serviceability and system manageability. The ATXN-5520 delivery higher throughput with dual channel DDR3-1333 memory, integrated memory control in the CPUs and higher I/O bandwidth than previous generation Intel chipsets.
The Intel 5520 chipset and each Intel Xeon E5500 series processor on the ATXN-5520 supports the Intel QuickPath Interconnect (QPI). The interface speed of an Intel QPI is determined by the specific processor and is measured in Giga Transfers per second (GT/s). GT/s refers the how quickly data packets are transferred from a processor to the chipset or from processor-to-processor. The Intel® QPI enables the sharing of computing resources between processors and faster processor to chipset communications. Other processor features include:
- Quad-Core, 8MB Shared Last-Level Cache (LLC)
- Intel® Hyper-Threading enables 8 threads per processor
- 256K Mid-Level Cache plus 32K of L1 instruction and data caches per core
- Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) built into the processor for direct system memory connections
- Three, dual-channel DDR3 1333MHz memory interfaces per processor
The ATXN-5520 combines the benefits of quad core processing with dual-processor capabilities (up to 8 cores), ideal for embedded OEM’s requiring high-performance power-efficient platforms with greater data throughput to perform diverse tasks simultaneously.
The ATXN-5520 features three PCI Express x8 channels in x16 connectors, three x4 channels in x8 connectors and a 32-bit PCI slot.
