4U rackmount computer featuring the amazing Tyan Thunder n6550EX Quad Opteron motherboard supporting Dual Core and Quad Core Series 8000/8300 processors. Fully loaded with a massive memory capacity and  superior performance capabilities, the Thunder n6550EX (S4989) is the premier 4-way server platform. That is 16 processor cores supporting up to 128GB of 667/533/400 DDR2 memory for unsurpassed computational capability. The Thunder motherboard features nVIDIA nForce Professional 3600 + 3050 chipset and integrated XGI Volari Z9s PCI Graphics. The Thunder n6550EX (S4989) supports EDA, HPC, life and science, CAD, CAM, CAE and CFD simulation applications.
Included is the nVidia e-GeForce 9800 GX2 Graphics Processing Unit for high performance graphics depiction. The 9800 is provided with a custom bracket and blower to enhance cooling air flow through this high power device and to provide a more secure mounting for the specified rugged environment.
 The Tyan Thunder e6550EX provides four Quad LGA 1207-pin sockets for support of up to four AMD Opteron Quad-Core / Dual-Core 8000/8300 series processors. The chipset is the nVidia nForce Professional 3600 + 3050 with Pericom P17C9X130 PCI-X bridge and Pericom P12PCIE412 PCI-E Mux. Onboard hardware monitoring is provided by the Winbond W83793G and two ADT7476 hardware monitoring ICs.
The Dual-channel memory bus accommodates 32 240-pin DDR2 DIMM modules for installation of up to 128GB registered 667/533/400 ECC memory.
Expansion slots include two PCI-E x16, two PCI-E x8 and two PCI-X 64/133MHz slots for a total of six expansion slots. Integrated internal I/O includes two 9-pin USB headers, six SATA-II and two Mini-SAS connectors, and a variety of system management ports. Rear I/O includes PS/2 Mouse and Keyboard, two stacked USB, DB-9 serial, D-Sub VGA port, two RJ45 Ethernet and one RJ-45 IPMI connectors.
Multiple hard drive options are available from a single fixed drive to two removable drives. Included is a high performance Double Layer DVD/RW drive and a floppy drive. Other drive configurations are available at customer request.
